Desingner John Galliano Fired

Did John Galliano bring it upon himself? Well, he could have but who is going to replace him? 15 years is a long time to spend in one fashion house and that is what John had done with Christian Dior. Now, Christian Dior is not just another name in the world of fashion. Recognized world over for its reach and style, it must have taken some midnight oil to have been liberally burnt to take the decision to show the door to John. Hard as that decision might have been, it should be harder to find someone to take over the place he had held so long without any worthwhile complaint against him. Celebrity gossip has it that the bookies in London are already busy with finding a replacement in their own way and is very much into betting on the score.



The names that are making the rounds are that of some very prominent designers. Haider Ackermann, the Colombian, with his modern and fashionable designs that exude romance is one. There is a problem here though. He has his own brand which he has nurtured for years and he may not be all that enthusiastic about leaving it in lurch for the opportunity of attaching himself to a monstrous name like Christian Dior.



Riccardo Tisci who is currently a favorite of Paris fashion world is with Givenchy. Now, Givenchy is not too unrelated to Dior. It is part of LVMH which has Dior also in its array of brands. Riccardo has kept himself to himself, not indulging in any intrepid adventures like Galliano did. One other favorable fact is that he is good at couture; something right up the Dior's alley.



Alber Elbaz is another name to contend with. The traditionally strong brand of Paris, Lanvin which was not doing all that well was given a new lease of life by the hard work lent to it by Alber Elbaz. That he has mass appeal is also clear. People loved the result of his H&M collaboration. Dior could very well benefit from his popularity.



Mark Jacob is a name that is formidable. His own brand in New York and in Paris, Louis Vuitton has drawn unrestrained praise from the press. Since, Louis Vuitton is part of Dior's vast stable of companies, it is not going to be a complete make-over for Marc. Considering that it is going to be a formidable task to fill the void left by Galliano, an equally big name like Marc Jacob could very well be what the doctor had ordered but it is up to Dior to make the decision.
